What the Comet? script

EXT. NEIGHBOURHOOD. NIGHT                             1

BOY walks on a cemented path and is in his neighbourhood. As he walks, he walks past houses and their lawns. It is night time and hence the background is black. You can hear crickets and slow music.

2. EXT. PADDOCK. NIGHT                                   2

BOY walks to a paddock. There are three trees; two to his left, and one to his right. There are also some weeds on the floor. There is no grass, just dry soil. BOY does a turn around and looks behind him. His neighbourhood is seen. It is far from the BOY.

3. EXT. SKY. NIGHT                                      3

BOY looks up at the sky. The sky is filled with clouds and three stars. The meteor appears and begins to get bigger and bigger which shows it coming closer to Earth.

4. EXT. BOY. NIGHT                                      4

BOY looks up at the sky and watches the meteor fall down. Small rocks fall around him. They become bigger and the meteor comes closer. BOY starts to run behind a rock to hide. He peeks his head above the rock to watch the meteor.

5. EXT. NEIGHBOURHOOD. NIGHT                            5

The neighbourhood gets brighter and brighter as the meteor comes closer.

6. EXT. METEOR. NIGHT                                   6

The meteor lands at the paddock and a ‘BOOM’ is heard. There is also the sound of falling rocks and a sizzling noise coming from the meteor. BOY walks over to the meteor and looks up. The meteor is about 2 meters in height and diameter. A crack begins to appear in the meteor and it splits in half. Both halves of the meteor fall to the left and right, respectively.

7. EXT. ALIEN. NIGHT                                    7

A close-up of a meteor is shown and an ALIEN is in between the two halves. BOY walks over to the ALIEN and gets frightened. BOY runs back to the rock and hides. The ALIEN slithers out of the meteor and stands between the BOY and the meteor. It waves its back-end towards the BOY that signifies a wave. BOY waves back and slowly approaches the alien.

BOY does not understand the language ALIEN speaks in, and then ALIEN shakes its head. It waves its back-end towards the BOY again and returns to its meteor.

8. EXT. ALIEN AND ITS METEOR. NIGHT                     8

ALIEN slithers to its meteor and then pulls out a toolbox and slithers back out. It fixes its meteor and the sound of tools plays in the background.

9. EXT. BOY. NIGHT                                      9

BOY walks over to the meteor where ALIEN is but before he arrives, ALIEN returns to its meteor and flies out into space. The meteor leaves a trail of falling rocks and disappears. BOY watches and waves.
